Energy consumers today have multiple ways to actively participate in the energy network: from buying rooftop solar and becoming prosumers, to selling flexibility services with personal EV or home storage. However, utilities struggle to engage consumers to act for the benefit of a better energy network. Just as other utilities, Ignitis Group is also trying to engage consumers to actively participate in energy grid. It is especially important for Lithuania due to increasing number of renewables and as it prepares for the grid synchronization with the continental Europe network in 2025. As soon as the synchronization begins Lithuania will have to ensure it has enough power capabilities to conduct flexibility, stable grid and other demand response services.
Ignitis group is looking for different consumer engagement measures with
right incentives to encourage participation in flexibility services through
demand side response (DSR).
Est. impact: Up to 10 MW of flexibility capabilities.
Target groups: Citizens and businesses.
