CISCO is looking for solutions to enable a secure and intelligent dementia care by detecting dangerous situations, reducing additional costs and preventing decline of condition
Improve welfare of patients with chronic diseases while providing a peace of mind to the care givers enabling a secure and intelligent dementia care by detecting dangerous situations, reducing additional costs and preventing decline of condition
Use case: Dementia patients
The Dementia timebomb is the most pressing long-term public health crisis. It is being driven by an ageing population. Dementia affects 50m people worldwide, projected to rise to 82m by 2030. In 2015 dementia cost $818bn globally, 1.1% of global GDP (WHO). In the US alone dementia-related costs range from $157 to $215bn - higher than costs associated with cancer or cardiac disease.
Increasingly health care systems are moving costs from centralized services delivered by hospitals into community and self-care services. We must adapt to this long-term shift in order to continue to be strategically aligned to the healthcare customers.
The identified stakeholders are in one side healthcare professionals, including clinical providers, primary physician and care givers. On the other side, tech monitoring providers, healthcare SME, Startups, insurance companies or big pharma.
Current limitations that could affect a solution are regulations (ex. hippa, FDA,…), privacy (patient data) and invasive perception.
