PROBLEM IN ONE SENTENCE:
Putokšnis, Ltd leading PET manufacturer in the Baltic states, is looking for the innovative technological solution aiming to measure moisture level in raw PTE material (before drying) and in dried PET material (before feeding to injection machine).
HOW BIG IS THE PROBLEM:
The PET raw material supplier provides the pellets with different humidity level (ppm or %). As standard time to dry material is 6 hours of residence time when humidity in raw material is not more than 3000ppm. With the higher moisture content standard drying process (residence time and drying temperature of 1850) should be prolonged, which cause non quality production, scrap, and time waste.
This problem would be solved by a certain device, mechanism or ppm moisture sensor that would measure the moisture level at the beginning of the raw material drying process (installed on the feed pipe) and after drying process before feeding to injection machine (the second installation). Objective: to achieve a moisture level of 40 ppm corresponding to the standard industrial level during the drying process of PET raw material. Device could help us adjust process accordingly to real value of moisture in raw material and dried material.
WHOSE PROBLEM IS IT:
The currently used moisture measurement technology is applied at the beginning and at the end of the drying process and it takes time (takes 15-30 minutes for each measurement). Therefore, a faster, more timely or continuous measurement of humidity at the beginning and at the end of the process is aimed at. If the moisture level of the PET raw material is about 1000 ppm, then standard drying processes are used, if the humidity is 2000 - 4000 ppm, other methods must be used, as the equipment itself is adapted to a moisture content of the raw material up to 3000 ppm.
Development of the certain device, mechanism or ppm moisture sensor which can measure the moisture during the movement of the raw material (in pellets) in the drying machinery. It is important to measure quickly and in a timely manner by applying innovative technological solutions. This will speed up and simplify the control of the drying process of the raw material.
